Hello there,

Thanks for visiting the bowerbird. We hope that you will find thoughts, images and words to inspire you to creative exploration. We would love to hear from you about your own creative adventures and what you think of ours!

ABOUT US

We (Sarah, Ellen, Marcia and Amanda) met when we were little kids. Lots of family holidays, major artworks, crafting experiences and inspiring conversations later, we decided to begin this blog to enable us a space with each other to share and encourage our creative selves and to see what happens!  We all love a bit of artsy/crafty shennanigans. Now that we all have little ones ourselves we find they inspire us to look at the world differently. We now stop and notice as well as appreciate, the smaller things in life that nurture our creative spirits.

WHY THE BOWERBIRD?

The bowerbird is an inspirational bird. It re-purposes found materials (often blue) and decorates it’s nest using objects that generally end up in the rubbish. Drinking straws, milk bottle caps and pegs are a common feature in these amazing nests! We like the idea of making something beautiful out of something that may otherwise end up in the bin. It inspires us to look at seemingly worthless objects differently and make our nests nurturing and aesthetically beautiful for ourselves and our families.
